Manchester United confirmed their two most important players in five minute spell vs Charlton

Man Utd made their victory over Charlton Athletic comfortable with two goals in the final five minutes of the match.

Rashford and Casemiro impressed

In the end, it looked like a routine win. While a second-string Manchester United side laboured to their 1-0 lead over Charlton on Tuesday night, the introduction of senior stars from the bench soon elevated the victory with two late goals.

Erik ten Hag's transformation at United is so impressive that his side are now turning these type of matches into the straightforward wins they should be, though it didn't always look like it would be that way.

United won't get as much credit as they should do for their recent run of form, with many critics pointing towards the favourable fixture schedule as the reason behind their dramatic improvement. That's exactly how it should be after years of watching regular upsets at Old Trafford.

The biggest change for United has been the rise in standards under their new manager, which stems not only from Ten Hag's disciplined approach, but also from the elite players he has welcomed to the club.

All of that came together in the closing five minutes of the match against Charlton, as United added gloss to the scoreline with two brilliantly worked goals finished off by Marcus Rashford.

There are not enough superlatives to do justice to Rashford's resurgent run, with the England international arguably playing the best football of his career at a time when he is also relishing the responsibility of leading the line for his club.

Since Cristiano Ronaldo played his final match for the club in a 3-1 loss at Aston Villa, United have won eight games in a row and Rashford has scored in seven of them. During that run, he has showcased a range of different finishes and is playing like a complete striker capable of scoring every type of goal.
