HIGHLIGHTS Leandro Trossard: How did Arsenal star play on debut vs Man Utd?

Leandro Trossard made his Arsenal debut in the team’s 3-2 victory over Manchester United.

The Belgian forward, who only recently joined from Brighton & Hove Albion in a £27 million deal, was introduced late on when the scores were level at 2-2.

Trossard replaced Gabriel Martinelli for the final 10 minutes of play at the Emirates Stadium and it was quite the cameo from him.

The 28-year-old didn’t look out of place in the Arsenal side whatsoever and showed off his impressive dribbling skills.

Trossard was even heavily involved in the Gunners’ late winner, which was scored by Eddie Nkeitah.

It was Trossard’s smart pass into the path of Oleksandr Zinchenko that paved the way for his teammate to fire home from close-range.

A fine debut indeed and the fact the former Genk man has been the subject of a highlights video after just 10 minutes on the pitch says it all really.

Well played, Leandro. Who needs Mykhaylo Mudryk, eh?

The man is a wizard with the ball at his feet and it looks as if Arsenal now have yet another potent attacking weapon at their disposal.

Don’t be surprised if Trossard displaces Martinelli from Arteta’s strongest XI in the remainder of the 2022/23 season.

Here’s how some people on Twitter reacted to Trossard’s exciting cameo…

Cesc Fabregas and Jamie Redknapp in the Sky Sports studio both heaped praise on Trossard after the game.

Arsenal legend Fabregas said: “I think Trossard is a really good player, better than at the moment what people think he is.

“He showed it at Brighton and he showed it today for a couple of minutes. He’s different to what they’ve got. He plays between the lines, he can score goals, play in different positions up front.”

Redknapp followed up by adding: “There would have been panic stations when they didn’t get Mykhailo Mudryk, they might have thought, ‘That was a big miss for us’.

“But Trossard has already shown in a 15-minute cameo that he is going to be a great signing for them.

“Great qualities, goes forward with the ball, he’s comfortable on it. He’s a typical Arsenal player if you like.

“A good footballer that scores goals, makes goals, he’s a good signing, £22m [up front] is a real bargain from their point of view.”
