Edu ignores Roy Keane's Arsenal transfer warning as third January signing eyed after £48m spend

Arsenal have completed the signings of Leandro Trossard and Jakub Kiwior in the January transfer window but have been warned against bringing in more players this month

Arsenal have reinforced Mikel Arteta's squad from a position of strength after bringing in Leandro Trossard and Jakub Kiwior this month. Sporting director Edu Gaspar was able to sign Trossard from Brighton for £21million plus £6million in add ons, whilst Kiwior arrived for an initial fee of £17.5million with a potential further £3.5million in add ons.

The two signings have improved Arteta's squad depth heading into the second half of the season as the Gunners continue their Premier League title challenge. Arsenal remain five points clear at the top of the table and could extend their advantage to eight points if they win their game in hand.

Gabriel Jesus will bolster Arteta's attacking options next month once he returns from injury. The Brazilian's absence has not derailed the north Londoners' title charge with Eddie Nketiah proving to be a capable replacement for Jesus, scoring six goals in six matches since the World Cup ended.

Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane urged the Gunners to be cautious not to destabilise the squad in the transfer market, questioning whether more signings were necessary in January. Keane told Sky Sports: "Be careful for what you wish for as well.

"We've all been discussing what players you need but sometimes you have to just look at the group you've got, one or two players coming back from injury but there's no need to panic buy or pay over the odds like we see other clubs do. If you have a good group - obviously Arsenal have always produced good young players - just be careful if you're looking outside, go happy with the group, look what they have achieved so far.

Be careful that you [may] bring a player in that just upsets everything."

Edu does not seem to have taken Keane's advice with Arsenal having agreed personal terms with Real Valladolid right-back Ivan Fresneda, according to The Athletic. The player is set to make a decision on his future soon as Borussia Dortmund have also arranged a similar deal for the 18-year-old defender.

The Gunners are thought to be in the market for a new central midfielder as well, with Real Madrid star Eduardo Camavinga and Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie both being linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium. Camavinga's agent has recently ruled out a January move for his client meaning a deal for McKennie could be more like
