FULL-TIME

Switzerland begging to be put out of their misery...

PORTUGAL 6

G Matias Ramos (17', 51', 67')

Pepe (33')

R Guerreiro (55')

R Leão (90+2')

SWITZERLAND 1

M Akanji (58')

GOAL! Portugal 6-1 Switzerland (Leao, 90+2)

Six of the best for Portugal as Rafael Leao puts the seal on the most-emphatic performance we've seen so far at this World Cup.

He's been on the field for a matter of moments but immediately shows his talent, cutting in off the left flank and curling a stunning effort over the head of Sommer.

Switzerland begging to be put out of their misery...

GOAL! Portugal 5-1 Switzerland (Ramos hat-trick, 67)

The first hat-trick of Qatar 2022!

Everything this young man touches turns to gold, as his fairytale night reaches even greater heights.

He delivered a thunderbolt to open the scoring. Then showed predatory instinct to convert his second.

Now the 21-year-old shows the delicate side to his game with the deftest of dinked finishes over Sommer after racing in behind to reach Felix's through pass.

Superb!

GOAL! Portugal 4-1 Switzerland (Akanji, 58)

GOAL! Portugal 4-0 Switzerland (Guerreiro, 56)

GOAL! Portugal 3-0 Switzerland (Ramos, 51)

It's him again!

The stuff of dreams for the 21-year-old as he doubles his tally with Portugal's third.

Switzerland pass up countless opportunities to clear their lines before being made to pay, as Dalot darts into the area and drills a ball into the near post which Ramos fires through the legs of Sommer.

Surely no way back for Switzerland from here.

Portugal 2-0 Switzerland

SECOND HALF!

Teams are back out at the Lusail Stadium. There's a change for Switzerland, Comert replacing Schar. Portugal get the ball rolling again.

Portugal 2-0 Switzerland

“No doubt which of these was the most important touch but Goncalo Ramos has done more than score, he has led the line and stretched the game by running in behind. Fernando Santos vindicated.”

GOAL! Portugal 2-0 Switzerland (Pepe, 33)

Pepe rises high in the Switzerland area to double Portugal's lead with a trademark towering header.

The Swiss defending leaves much to be desired - Pepe had the freedom of the six-yard box as he becomes the second oldest World Cup finals scorer behind the great Roger Milla.

Portugal in complete control.

Portugal 1-0 Switzerland

Portugal 1-0 Switzerland
29: Embolo shows great strength and pace to spin away from Dias and win Switzerland a free-kick deep in Portugal territory. Could this lead to the Swiss response? Shaqiri stands over the ball...
GOAL! Portugal 1-0 Switzerland (Ramos, 17)
WOW!

If you thought Goncalo Ramos replacing Cristiano Ronaldo was the big story of the night, think again!

The 21-year-old rifles Portugal in front with a thunderous near-post drive which had not right to find the net, such was the acuteness of the angle.

Fernando Santos' decision to start Ramos is vindicated, and Portugal come through a far from convincing start to lead.
