Full TIME:Germany 1-2 Japan
90+4: CHANCE! An attack down the left drops to Goretzka after Hoffman falls to the floor. He takes an age to sort himself out though and his effort comes to nothing. There's a look from VAR at the previous challenge on Hoffman - no chance there. He went down easily.

Germany 1-2 Japan
Sky Sports' Ben Grounds:
"Germany haven't lost a World Cup match when leading at half time since 1978. But they've been so sloppy in this second half having failed to take their chances. If Japan are clinical here they can score a third in stoppage time."

GOAL!!!!! Germany 1-2 Japan (Asano, 83)
WHAT A COMEBACK! WHAT A MOMENT!!
Germany 1-1 Japan
Sky Sports' Charlotte Marsh:
"What a moment! There's a pile-on from the Japanese bench as Doan reels away to celebrate. The fans in the stands are in ecstasy.
"You can't say Japan haven't deserved it. They may have been on the backfoot at times, but they've taken advantage of Germany's errors and misses to equalise.
"We said this was in the balance and now, Japan have a chance to take a famous win."

GOAL!!! Germany 1-1 Japan (Doan, 75)
HERE WE GO!!! The man who plays his football for Freiburg in Germany gets a massive equaliser!! Mitoma sets the attack down the left. A cross is flashed across goal. It's half palmed clear by Neuer but Japan have about 2,409 men in the box and Doan thunders home from close range.
Fair play, they've gone for it. And got their rewards.

75: SUB! Sakai won't sleep tonight after missing that one. He is replaced by Minamino. All out attack now for Japan.
Germany 1-0 Japan
73: WHAT A MISS!!! Japan should be level!! Asano is given so much time in the box and draws a fantastic save off Neuer. The rebound drops to Sakai from six yards out but he gets VERY excited and smacks the rebound off target!

Sky Sports' Charlotte Marsh:
"Despite some nervy moments, Gonda is a brilliant shot-stopper and he proves it there with about one hundred saves in quick succession.

:
"It's been a pretty end-to-end half so far and playing out in the familiar style - Germany seeing plenty of the ball and probably the standout chances, but Japan look a threat every time they break forward.
"This game is still hugely in the balance. Germany need a second to arguably box Japan out of any points.
"Musiala has been the standout for the Germans too. What a talent - a breakout tournament beckons."

63: Musiala is a joy. He beats his man with a special turn. Draws the foul. Big things coming from this guy in the next few weeks.

61: GUNDOGAN SHOULD SCORE...BUT HE DOESN'T! Musiala breaks in off the left and puts one on a plate for Gundogan from 15 yards. He decides with the cool, side-foot finish but his effort hits the outside of the post!

"Got some real questions about Gonda and racing out to meet players. He looks like he'll give away a penalty or error every time. Worrying."

56: CHANCE...BUT OFFSIDE! Huge spaces for both teams now. Havertz jinks in behind but the ball isn't great. Gonda comes out but doesn't collect properly. Muller keeps it alive but the attack is broken down by the flag. Replays show that Havertz was actually
Germany 1-0 Japan
48: CHANCE! There is more space for Germany now. Muller drives and finds Gnabry on the right of the area. Muller wants the return but Gnabry goes for goal. It's a wild finish. Muller gives him a stare.

46: WE ARE BACK! Japan make a change. Arsenal's Tomiyasu is on for Kubo.
A switch in formation it is. Going to a back three.
Germany 1-0 Japan
HT: A look at the stats would suggest this has been a battering. Germany have had 14 shots, Japan just one. But it's been a closer game than that. Gundo beat Gonda from the spot after the goalkeeper made a poor decision to give away the penalty. Havertz also had a goal chalked off for offside.
However, Japan had an early goal ruled out too and almost levelled it up from their only official shot but Maeda headed just wide. Plenty left in this game.

GOAL RULED OUT! Germany 1-0 Japan
VAR confirms what we all thought. Havertz was ahead of the play. He did even look surprise he wasn't flagged. Japan still in this.

GOAL! Germany 2-0 Japan (Havertz, 45+3)
Kimmich drills one low. It's pushed clear to Gnabry who slides it across goal where Havertz - who looks offside - puts it home.
VAR are taking a look. From my naked eye, he looked off.
Germany 1-0 Japan
42: For all Japan's direct and speedy work down the flanks, they are yet to have a shot in this match.

39: CHANCE! Germany work it quickly again and Musiala clips one into the middle. Gonda makes another poor decision and punches clear the cross straight to Kimmich on the edge who decides against putting his foot through it. Ends up flicking a poor ball to Muller. Japan can clear.

Germany 1-0 Japan
Sky Sports' Charlotte Marsh:
"From hero to zero for Gonda - a little harsh perhaps, but go with it.
"He'd made some brilliant saves so far, but some really poor decision making and clumsy footwork sees him almost flatten Raum like a pancake.
"Gundogan eases the ball home from the spot that will hopefully settle a few German nerves."

GOAL! Germany 1-0 Japan (Gundogan pen, 32)
What is this I see before me? It’s a goal! Get in the bin, 0-0.
Gundogan makes Japan, and especially their goalkeeper, pay. Such a needless penalty to give away.
No mistake from the reliable Gundogan.

Germany 0-0 Japan
31: PENALTY TO GERMANY!! Raum makes a clever run in behind and forces Gonda to come out. There's a little bit of contact initially but there's then more contact as the two come together again. The referee is well placed. And points to the spot. Poor goalkeeping
Germany 0-0 Japan
15: Japan have made only one pass in the Germany half so far but should be in front. Germany have made 57. Shows you the pattern of this game.
Germany 0-0 Japan
11: Germany bossing the ball but Japan are hitting hard and fast on the break. Ito breaks away again but Rudiger's aggressive nature sees him win the interception on halfway.

Germany 0-0 Japan
"I blinked and Japan had the ball in the net. I blinked again and it was ruled out.
"Japan's best attacks so far have come from German errors in midfield - this time, Gundogan easily muscled off the ball.
"And they are lightening quick when they move forward too. That will hopefully have shocked Germany into getting their act together."
Germany 0-0 Japan
7: BALL IN THE NET FOR JAPAN! BUT IT'S OFFSIDE!!
Ito scampers away down the right and Germany are turned. His ball into the box is gobbled up by Maeda at the back post. But the flag is up.
Correct call. He was a yard off. And he didn't need to be. Bend your run, son! Huge warning for Germany.
Germany 0-0 Japan
"Good play already from Japan, with Ito picking up a loose pass in midfield.
"However, Germany's defence deal with the cross and the corner pretty well. Japan are pressing well when out of possession.
"They already look like they'll be pretty direct in attack too and Germany will need to be switched on at the back, especially in transition."
Germany 0-0 Japan
5: Germany like to play a high line so Maeda is looking to get behind where possible. He and Rudiger race for a ball in behind and there isn't much between the two in terms of pace. Could be interesting that.
Germany 0-0 Japan
3: Hello, Musiala. Explosive stuff from him down the left already as he glides past two challenges and sets up a spell of German pressure.
