Full Time. ENGLAND 6-2 IRAN
GOAL! England 6-2 Iran (Taremi pen, 90+13)
After a very long wait, Mehdi Taremi keeps his cool to send Pickford the wrong way. He'll be pleased with his two games from a tough game for himself. He's barely had any service.

90+9: Given that England weren't given a penalty for a more obvious offence in the opening minutes, that's an incredible decision.

90+11: PENALTY IRAN! The Uruguayan VAR has told the referee to check the pitchside monitor of John Stones tugging the shirt of Taremi.
Stones is penalised! Iran have the chance of a second from the spot!

90+9: PENALTY IRAN? This has been a spirited end from Iran, but I'd say a second goal would have flattered them here.
Still, they come forward and there is a VAR check for a possible penalty here...

90+8: WHAT A SAVE!! Superb from Jordan Pickford as he flicks Sardar Azmoun shot onto the crossbar. The goal-kick is awarded but Pickford certainly got a touch to that!

90+7: Foden surely has to see the space that Rashford is in down the right, but he opts for the harder pass and can't find Wilson.
WHACK! Grealish is wiped out by Pouraliganji, who is on a booking. The Brazilian referee shows mercy. That would ordinarily be a straight up yellow card.
GOAL! England 6-1 Iran (Grealish, 90)
ENGLAND HAVE A SIXTH!
It's brilliant again from Jude Bellingham as he releases Callum Wilson with his first-time pass. Wilson has just Hosseini to beat but he unselfishly sets up his fellow sub Jack Grealish for a simple tap in.
It was a marginal offside call but Wilson just about held his run...
What a way for England to open their account in the tournament. For the second finals in a row, they have scored six in a group game.
GOAL! England 5-1 Iran (Rashford, 72)
WHAT AN INTRODUCTION FROM MARCUS RASHFORD!
One touch, two touch, and the third is in the back of the net!
Really composed by the Manchester United forward as he is released down the right, chopping inside before stroking a right-foot finish underneath Hosseini.
It was simplicity itself.

70: SUBS! Finally the subs can be made.
Maguire is groggy as he heads down the tunnel for further assessment. Dier is on, and with the ball out of play Southgate can make a further triple change.
Phil Foden, Jack Grealish and Marcus Rashford. Sake, Mount and Sterling join Maguire in going off.

67: Iran get themselves into a huddle, led by Taremi, to discuss how they go about the final 25 minutes here. Maguire is still down as he has taken a bang. Eric Dier is set to come on as a replacement.
Maguire is dazed. What a shame, as he's been performing so well but he has to go off.
GOAL! England 4-0 Iran (Saka, 62)
England 3-0 Iran
61: WIDE! An effort from Iran off target as Saeid Ezatolahi ambitiously lets fly from range but that's not troubling Pickford.

56: Pickford yet to be troubled.
Iran are one of 20 teams to have featured at each of the last two FIFA World Cups in 2014 and 2018 – of those teams, they have had the fewest shots (47), the fewest shots on target (10) and scored the fewest goals (3) in the group stages across those two tournaments combined.
It's England who look the more likely to add to their lead as Kane - showing no ill effects following that robust challenge - flicks the ball around the corner for Sterling but it is well defended by Majid Hosseini in the one-v-one.
That all started from another fine piece of reading the game from Maguire at the back.

"Kane is trying to run this off, but he's glancing across at the bench, nervously.
"With his aspirations of a second golden boot, you know he won't want to come off. But he's far from free in his movement."
England 3-0 Iran
51: WHACK! Here we go. Ahmad Noorollahi is next to fly in recklessly on Trippier. A painful one on the end of the boot as Maguire kicks the ball out and Trippier gets back on his feet.

"It’s strangely quiet in the stadium now. The Iran fans are silent, and England’s fans too are quiet - almost as though they can’t quite believe what they’ve seen in the first half.
"Gentle, relieved applause from the England fans as Kane rises from the deck.
"The one player England can't afford to lose."

50: This looked a bad one for Kane. He winces as he rolls on the ground and is now helped back onto his feet. Callum Wilson has gone to warm up as Trippier stands over this free-kick.
Perhaps not as bad as initially feared...

OUCH! Kane is wiped out by Morteza Pouraliganji - who is booked as a result. The weight of Pouraliganji has landed on the right ankle of Kane...

Second Half
46: BEEP! We're back up and running and Iran have made a triple change... same XI from England.
Hossein Kanaani, Ali Gholizadeh and Saeid Ezatolahi are all on. Rouzbeh Cheshmi, Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Ali Karimi make way.
First Half: England 3-0 Iran
England rampant as Sterling volleys in Kane's cross
Saka into the top corner to double England's advantage
Bellingham's looping header gave England's deserved lead
Maguire's header had hit the crossbar from Trippier's corner
GOAL! England 3-0 Iran (Sterling, 45+1)
WHAT A START FROM ENGLAND!
Bellingham wins the ball in midfield and feeds Harry Kane down the right. Kane looks up and picks out the cross for Raheem Sterling to finish first time at the near post with the outside of his boot.
It's Sterling's first goal at a World Cup. England are in full control.

ENGLAND HAVE A SECOND AND IT'S FROM ANOTHER CORNER!
Trippier's deep ball is won by Harry Maguire and there is fire from the boot of Bukayo Saka. Wallop! Into the roof of the net.
The Iranian players complain, they surround the referee claiming a foul. But that is just strong from Maguire.
GOAL! England 1-0 Iran (Bellingham, 35)
ARISE JUDE BELLINGHAM! It's his first international goal and it's England's first at this year's World Cup!
It's a brilliant leap from the Borussia Dortmund midfielder as he launches himself at Luke Shaw's cross from the left to get above Majid Hosseini to steer his header beyond Hossein Hosseini into the far corner.
