What Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag has said about Marcus Rashford amid fresh Arsenal transfer links Marcus Rashford was linked with a move to Arsenal in the summer, but the Man United man stayed at Old Trafford and has earned words of praise from new boss Erik ten Hag

After being linked with a move in the summer, reports are re-emerging that Arsenal are 'monitoring' Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford. The England international's contract at Old Trafford expires next summer, although United do have the option to extend it by a further 12 months.

Mikel Arteta was keen to bolster his attacking options in the summer and Rashford was one of the players linked with move to the Emirates Stadium. Football Insider have reported that the Gunners are still 'keeping close tabs' on the 24-year-old.

Arteta and Edu may have been regretting their decision to not push for Rashford more in the summer, with the Red Devils forward scoring twice in United's 3-1 win over Arsenal last month. The performance helped Rashford win Premier League Player of the Month award for September.

After that display, United boss Erik ten Hag said: "He was brilliant. It was a really great performance from him. As a striker, he was pressing. But also, when we played it over him and he was the target, he made the right decisions."

While links with a move to Arsenal are re-emerging, it seems unlikely that Ten Hag would be willing to let Rashford go. He has started all seven of United's Premier League games this season and when questioned recently on turning down an approach from Paris Saint-Germain for Rashford, Ten Hag said he was 'very excited' to work more with the player.

"From day one I was very excited to work with Rashford, I already knew the impact he could have and his potential," he said. "He brings that potential onto the pitch and I'm really happy with his development
