LIVEThis is a live match. Liverpool 1 vs 0 Manchester City. Premier League full-time high - light

Opta stats: Liverpool 1-0 Man City

Liverpool are unbeaten across their last 28 Premier League matches at Anfield (W21 L7) since losing six in a row between January and March in 2021.

Manchester City have lost a Premier League away game for the first time since August 2021 against Spurs, ending what was the longest unbeaten away run in their league history (22 games). This was the fourth longest unbeaten away run in Premier League history.

Pep Guardiola has lost 11 matches against Jürgen Klopp as a manager, at least four more defeats than against any other coach.

Mohamed Salah has been directly involved in 14 goals against Manchester City in all competitions for Liverpool (9 goals, 5 assists), his most against any opponent for the Reds.

Liverpool 1-0 Man City

FT: A huge roar greets an equally huge three points for Liverpool - and a first away defeat in 23 Premier League games for Manchester City.

They're never bad games between these two, but this was surely one of the best. Man City will feel they deserved more, despite Haaland's unusually subdued performance - but Liverpool weren't far from their best tonight.

Is this the start of the comeback? We'll see.

Liverpool 1-0 Man City

90+10: Solid defending from Liverpool yet again, De Bruyne's free-kick nodded clear under the nose of Akanji.

That must be that.

Liverpool 1-0 Man City

90+10: Alisson looks long over the half-way line from a goal kick. We're STILL playing at Anfield.

And now a handball against Thiago in midfield. Surely not...

Liverpool 1-0 Man City

90+9: SUB! On the replay it looks like Jota's pulled his hamstring, and is stretchered off as a precaution.

Tsimikas on. Does he get a clean sheet bonus if it stays 1-0?

Liverpool 0-0 Man City

55: BIG CHANCE! What a second half. Hook this to my veins.

While Guardiola is still beckoning to the crowd, jeering them on to have their moment, Liverpool attack with pace through a lovely through ball from Elliott for Jota.

Cancelo's tackle on him falls straight for Salah, and he dinks it to the back post for Jota who has a free header.

The Kop are on their feet, waiting for it to hit the back of the net - and he smacks the stanchion after missing the goal altogether! How is this 0-0?

Liverpool 0-1 Man City

The referee has been sent to the monitor...

THE GOAL HAS BEEN RULED OUT

It appears the goal has been disallowed not for Haaland's clash with the goalkeeper but for an earlier foul by Haaland on Fabinho.

GOAL! Liverpool 0-1 Man City (Foden, 53)

Chaos in the Liverpool area but City have the ball in the back of the net, as Foden's shot from a narrow angle smacks into the top corner off Gomez.

It starts as Haaland wrestles Fabinho off the ball in midfield and finds De Bruyne, who returns the favour with a lovely threaded ball into the box. Alisson jumps on it, is it kicked out of his hands by Haaland before Foden gets to the rebound?

Liverpool 0-0 Man City

52: Ederson's down and having a bit of treatment from the City physio, possibly from some contact from Salah in making the save.

He hobbles over to take the goal kick - wrongly awarded by Anthony Taylor - and ends up letting Dias take it.

I'm not sure he will be carrying on

Liverpool 0-0 Man City

50: HUGE CHANCE! Firmino's position continues to be an interesting one, in theory alongside Salah in a 4-4-2 but fairly regularly back in the midfield to give the hosts a numerical advantage in the middle of the park.

It's exactly that which gets Liverpool on the attack with their best opportunity of the game, the Brazilian setting Salah away in behind Ake.

It's like the Salah of old as he races forward, with no chance of catching him, but when he aims for the far corner Ederson tips is behind with a superb stop.

How to watch this

Liverpool 0-0 Man City

48: No real change to the play, or sniff of a chance, in the opening three minutes of the second half.

The tempo is straight back to the high speed of the first half though.

Liverpool 0-0 Man City

HT: Honours even at the break. No goals, but plenty of high-octane football and a couple of nearly moments at both ends.

In terms of the form book, Liverpool have impressed more than City, with the hosts relatively comfortable inside their own 18-yard box.

City have controlled the game on the whole, but Liverpool have looked threatening when they get the ball forward quickly themselves.

Liverpool 0-0 Man City

32: Is Pep angling for a surprise role in midfield?

The City manager is on the pitch after Akanji is penalised on the half-way line for a foul on Jota, but Anthony Taylor turns a blind eye.

Liverpool 0-0 Man City

31: OVER! Liverpool might be in trouble momentarily when Haaland opens up space 30 yards out and rolls it across for Foden.

A lack of pace on the pass denies him a first-time shot, and he pulls it back for Gundogan instead, before the ball ends up in Row Z.

Liverpool 0-0 Man City

20: Liverpool play their way through the City press excellently through an excellently weighted lob from Fabinho to Jota on the half-way line.

His reverse pass sets Salah free, and after holding off Ake he wins a corner after a decent run.

Liverpool 0-0 Man City

6: A poor clearance from Van Dijk plays straight into City hands, and they waste no time feeding Haaland on the edge of the area.

This is his kind of territory, something you can't say for Jota - who, for some reason, is the man back covering, and gets in a really important sliding challenge before he can set himself.

Liverpool 0-0 Man City

3: Robertson is lucky to escape a booking when he's knocked by Silva when going for a header, and shoves him away in return right in front of Anthony Taylor.

In a game with plenty of needle already, the ref chooses to just keep a lid on things, and keep his cards in his pocket.

Liverpool 0-0 Man City

2: Does this Liverpool midfield have the legs? Elliott passes an early test of implementing the Klopp press, winning it back on the touchline in the City half and feeding Salah.

His low cross is cleared, but Liverpool come again through the same man, and it's ushered behind before Jota can finish off from close range.

A promising start from the hosts.

Liverpool 0-0 Man City

1: After both sides take a knee to show their support for the No Room for Racism campaign, we're off as Haaland gets the ball rolling in City's wasp-like away strip.

Here we go!

The teams are out at Anfield. You could cut the tension with a circular saw, much like the one used at Hull to shorten the goalposts earlier (watch that here, it's amazing).
