Liverpool willing to pay 120m for Enzo Fernandez

According to the ‘Liverpool Echo’, the Liverpool board are planning to make a big financial bid for Enzo Fernandez, the Argentine midfielder who plays for Benfica. His termination clause is worth around 120 million euros.

Enzo Fernandez was one of the big surprises at the start of the 2022-23 season. The former River Plate player had great performances for Benfica during these months and earned a call-up to the Argentina national team.

His great form in Portuguese football has attracted the interest of Europe’s top clubs. In England, for example, Liverpool are said to be interested in strengthening their midfield and are said to be interested in the Argentine.

According to the ‘Liverpool Echo’, the Reds are willing to make the financial effort to sign Fernandez for the 2023-24 season. In this sense, Benfica would ask for the 120 million euros that his release clause is worth.

We will see what happens in the next market, but what is certain is that the 21-year-old Argentine midfielder has started to earn a place on the agenda of the big clubs of European football. His transfer could be the subject of competition between several teams.

If Fernandez’s arrival does not materialise, Liverpool could insist on another South American target. On this occasion, “Plan B” would be Moises Caicedo, a 20-year-old Ecuadorian midfielder who plays for Brighton.
