Gabriel Jesus doubt, Wilfried Zaha question, Charlie Patino and Folarin Balogun Arsenal futures

Arsenal's winning run came to an end on Sunday as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Southampton. The game proved particularly frustrating as the Gunners started superbly, but were made to pay for their early missed chances as they faded in the second half.

Perhaps the most guilty culprit of this was Gabriel Jesus who has now gone four games without a goal. The Brazilian is certainly contributing elsewhere but some have begun to express doubts over his ability to score as regularly as Arsenal need.

Of course Jesus is not the only one tasked with scoring and on the day Eddie Nketiah, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka were all unable to score too. This has created questions as to whether the Gunners may look to bolster their forward line in January, with Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha among the players who could be available.

Away from the Emirates Arsenal's loanees continue to impress. Both Charlie Patino and Flo Balogun scored for Blackpool and Reims respectively over the weekend continuing their fine starts to the season and creating plenty of excitement among the Arsenal fanbase.

I'm concerned about the refereeing of matches these days. Tackling violently or aggressively with your legs is seen as foul but players do worse these days with their hands. The ways and manners I see Saka Jesus, Odegaad, Martinelli being pushed is sympathy inspiring and the referees don't do anything about ithem. Players push more violently than they kick these days. It is time they look into the pushing. Pushing or blocking with body to gain advantage and possession of the ball is okay but the deliberate and violent pushing with all strength I see on the pitch these days are atrociously condemable.

Hey David, thanks for the question! Links between Arsenal and Zaha just don't seem to go away do they! Arsenal are targeting adding more firepower to their ranks as you say, although I can't say I've heard anything about a move for Wilfried Zaha recently. As much as I agree with you that a move for him would be a smart one, there are a few reasons why I'd be surprised if it went add. One is that he is going to be 30 very soon. Edu told football.london in an interview that the club are looking to purchase players who have resale values to sustain the project in the future, and even on a free Zaha would not fall into this category most likely. On top of that there's the wages to consider. Zaha is reported to earn in excess of £100,000 per week at Crystal Palace, which given the recent restructuring of Arsenal's wage budget would put him towards the upper end of what players in the squad are on right now. As a free transfer you would assume he would want significantly more than that which would potentially make things difficult too. I personally can't see Arsenal breaking their wage structure to sign a player who doesn't seem to fit into their model, but you can never say never when it comes to transfers.
