Almost a Liverpool goal
Good work by Doak to get to the byline and cross but Koumas shot is weak and is easily held by the goalkeeper. Liverpool 3-1 down on 74 minutes.

Liverpool substitution
Liverpool make their first substitution with Pilling on for Kone-Doherty. They trail 3-1 on 68 minutes.

Double booking
A couple of yellow cards are brandished. Clark hasn't been happy with the officiating all afternoon. Liverpool aren't happy with some of what's going on today.
Frauendorf and Agouigil went into the book. Things are getting very feisty out there. Doak looks like he has a lot of fire in the belly.

GOAL! Ajax 3-1 Liverpool
3-1 Ajax. A deflected shot loops up over Hewitson.
It's the substitute Kalokoh who has made it 3-1.

Better start
Liverpool have been better so far in the second half. Appear to have a bit more about them in midfield.

Penalty appeal
Bobby Clark goes down inside the Ajax area. Wants a penalty but the referee gives a free-kick to the home side.
16:07IAN DOYLE
Liverpool free-kick
Doak is caught strongly and screams out in pain. It's a free-kick but, as has been the case so far this game, no booking for Ajax.

HT: Ajax 2-1 Liverpool
Half-time and Liverpool were in trouble at being deservedly 2-0 down, but that Kone-Doherty strike just beforethe break has given them real hope of a comeback. They only need a point to qualify for the last 16.

GOAL! Liverpool pull one back!
Great work by Doak down the right and his low cross is deflected towards the line where Kone-Doherty heads it in from a yard out. 2-1 on 44 minutes. Game on?
15:45IAN DOYLE
Chance for the Reds
Liverpool finally have a chance. Chambers breaks out of centre-back into his usual left wing and crosses for Koumas to have a header saved.
15:44IAN DOYLE
More on that goal
Ajax go 2-0 ahead. Misehouy puts it in from about eight yards out after being found by the busy Sarfo. Long way back for Liverpool now. 42 minutes gone.
15:43KEY EVENT
GOAL! 2-0 to Ajax now
Misehouy sticks it away after a low cross. Liverpool well up against it here.

Another booking
No luck this time for the Liverpool captain. Quansah takes down Vos in the centre circle and is booked.

Doak surges again
Doak flashes forward on the break down the left after the Ajax free-kick...but the hosts eventually win it back.

Good play from Ajax
Free-kick to Ajax on the edge of the penalty area. Quansah a victim of a nutmeg, brings his man down and escapes a yellow.

Flag goes up
Cross to the far post for Ajax and what looks like a big chance for 2-0...but the flag goes up for offside.
15:37SEAN BRADBURY
Doak on the move
Doak does well to work the ball forward down the right - but Kone-Doherty can't quite spin towards goal when the cross comes in.
15:33SEAN BRADBURY
A shout from the Liverpool bench
"We're not going to get anything!"
Can't really argue with that from the Reds coaching staff.
Ref being generous with the level of aggression from Ajax so far.
15:32IAN DOYLE
Hmm...
Clark the latest Liverpool player to barely believe Ajax haven't been penalised for what looked like a foul.
15:30IAN DOYLE
Top work from Quansah
Quansah makes a great block to prevent Agougil doubling the lead.
Difficult times for the young Reds at the moment, they trail Ajax 1-0 on 28 minutes.
15:29IAN DOYLE
First booking...
Liverpool have not been happy that some Ajax tackles from behind have not resulted in yellow cards, so they have taken a dim view that Corness has become the first player in this game booked for minimal contact.
15:29SEAN BRADBURY
Better signs from Liverpool
Reds progressing the ball a bit better now. Most promising move so far breaks down as they get into the Ajax box.
15:24SEAN BRADBURY
Since the goal...
...it's got a little scrappy. Ajax playing with aggression, Liverpool lacking fluency so far.
15:21SEAN BRADBURY
Ref having a word...
Referee giving a warning to the Ajax players after a couple of heavy-handed challenges.

Bright start
Ajax legend Ronald de Boer one of the on-lookers at De Toekomst here. Half-chances for either side early on. Koumas denied by Kremas and Quansah had to be alert down the other end to clear a promising move from the hosts.

Jarrell Quansah with an important early interception early on after Ajax threaten.
