Manchester United are ready to make a January move for Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos, who was linked with Newcastle over the summer, and is also being tracked by Bayern Munich.

Manchester United are considering making a £25 million move for SL Benfica centre-forward Goncalo Ramos, according to The Sun. The Red Devils have made contact with the representatives of the 21-year-old.

Ramos has a release clause inserted in his contract worth £100 million. However, Man United have no intention of paying that for the Portugal U21 international.

In the recent transfer window, Premier League outfit Newcastle United were eyeing a move for Ramos. Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich

are also keeping tabs on the 21-year-old.

Manchester United to move for the Benfica star next summer?

While Erik ten Hag is not going to get to spend a lot in January, the club realise the need for a number nine. The current options at the former Ajax manager’s disposal are seemingly not enough.

A couple of injuries can lead to an apparent crisis up front. Anthony Martial has only played in one game this season. The French national came on as a second-half substitute against Liverpool on matchday three.

Marcus Rashford has also spent some time on the sidelines for the Manchester-based club. The England international picked up a muscle injury in the 3-1 victory over Arsenal in the league.

The 24-year-old has been the preferred centre-forward for Ten Hag. With Rashford and Martial being absent, Cristiano Ronaldo started against Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa League.

The Portugal international has mostly come off the bench in the 2022/23 campaign. He has had to settle for a substitute role. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was the only fit recognised striker in the squad when we visited Moldova.
