Liverpool could sign Moises Caicedo for half the price Graham Potter values him at

 Liverpool Jude Bellingham Transfer Problem

Liverpool were put off by high agent fees at the time, as were Manchester United. But Jacobs says offers are expected for Caicedo in January.

He claims Brighton would want at least £50m for the 20-year-old, whose contract at the Amex does not expire until 2025. But if Liverpool were able to seal a deal at that price, it would be some way off what Potter claimed would be a fair figure.

Liverpool were rumoured to be preparing a £42m bid in the summer. Potter joked at the time that would only be enough to buy Caicedo's boots and suggested £100m could be what Brighton accept.

Man Utd and Liverpool could 'save £47m' on Jude Bellingham transfer

He said: "In football you never know, but we are quite calm and confident. You'd probably get his boots for that from the chairman - maybe! £100m? They can try."

Potter was not surprised to hear of interest in Caicedo before he left to become Chelsea boss earlier this month. Caicedo is also linked with a move to Stamford Bridge to follow his old boss.

Potter said in August: "It doesn't surprise me that people are looking at him because he is playing at a fantastic level. As soon as you do research on him you realise he is a top kid, great person, young, playing in the Premier League, has all the attributes to play at the very, very highest level."
