Bukayo Saka injury, as Gunners suffer injury more Douglas Luiz plan, Europa League build-up

The Gunners tasted defeat for the first time in the Premier League this season after losing 3-1 against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Mikel Arteta will be hoping for a positive response from his side as attentions turn to the start of the Europa League on Thursday.

Mohamed Elneny is set for a lengthy absence after suffering a hamstring injury, whilst Thomas Partey edges closer to a return to the matchday squad. Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe remain doubts ahead of the game against FC Zurich after the latter pulled up during Arsenal's warm down session following the defeat on Sunday

Arteta has come under criticism from many for his decision making and comments after the loss to United, despite the north Londoners remaining top of the Premier League. The Gunners failed to secure a late deal for Douglas Luiz on Deadline Day which may come back to haunt them should they suffer more injuries heading into a busy period of fixtures.

Edu's January transfer plan

Arsenal are set to look at other options following their failed pursuit of Douglas Luiz, according to transfer guru Dean Jones. The Gunners made a late move for the Brazilian, but missed out on deadline day, now switching their attention to Danilo.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones said: "I think we can expect Arsenal to maintain their interest in Danilo, who they had set as a top tier target heading into the summer window. There was a temptation to try for him because of their situation but he’s a young player in Brazil and they are content that they will lead the way for him next year anyway."
