Arsenal vs Aston Villa: Sambi Lokonga starts, Oleksandr Odegaard misses out

We'll be bringing you all the build up and coverage direct from the Emirates Stadium as Mikel Arteta's side look to continue their 100% record in the league so far, following wins against Crystal Palace, Leicester City, Bournemouth and Fulham.

Arteta faces some interesting options for the clash against Steven Gerrard's side, who's Villa team are currently struggling for form. Arsenal lined up differently for the first time against Fulham in the previous match and it is expected that the Gunners could once again make changes to the starting line up.

Arsenal XI confirmed

Starting XI: Ramsdale; White; Saliba; Gabriel;Tierney; Lokonga; Xhaka; Odegaard; Saka; Jesus; Martinelli

Subs: Turner; ;Tomiyasu; Cedric; Holding; Smith; Maitland-Niles; Marquinhos;Smith Rowe; Vieira; Nketiah

Albert Sambi Lokonga chance

Mikel Arteta could look to Albert Sambi Lokonga to start alongside Granit Xhaka in midfield against Villa, with the Spaniard's options limited in that area following Partey and Elneny's injuries. The youngster was linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium this summer but opted to stay and fight for a place in the first team.

Lokonga may now have a chance to show his quality and prove to Arteta that he can make a difference in this Arsenal side. The Spanish manager may switch formations to allow more cover in midfield, dropping Odegaard back into a flat three-man midfield, or he may keep the club captain more advanced and partner Xhaka with Lokonga.

Line-up: Ramsdale; White, Gabriel, Saliba, Tierney; Xhaka, Lokonga; Saka, Odegaard, Martinelli; Jesus
