Wolves' Pedro Neto and Leicester City's Your It's Tielemans have both been heavily linked with Arsenal all summer

Arsenal remain interested in Premier League duo Pedro Neto and Youri Tielemans this summer, with the latter reportedly available for a reduced fee.


Leicester City midfielder Tielemans has been a long-term target of Mikel Arteta, and with the Belgian now into the last 10 months of his contract at the Foxes, reports claim the 25-year-old is available for just £17m. That's according to Belgian outlet Niewsblad, with Leicester against letting him go for free next summer.

The Gunners are also looking at Wolves' Neto, with the Portuguese winger continuing to be linked with Arsenal. But, outgoing are the priority before Arteta can make a move for the 22-year-old, with Nicolas Pepe set to leave this summer.

So, how could Arsenal perform for the remainder of the season if they were to sign both Neto and Tielemans before the end of the transfer window? We simulated the Gunners' 2022/23 season to try and find out.

For this simulation to happen, we used the in-game editor for Football Manager 2022 to transfer Tielemans from Leicester City and Neto from Wolves to Chelsea. We also updated Arteta's squad with all the latest changes to try and get the most accurate results possible.

Tielemans became a vital part of Arteta's set-up at Arsenal, making 51 appearances in his first season with the club. Despite being deployed more often as a defensive midfielder, the Belgian international chipped in going forward, grabbing an incredible 12 goals and 17 assists in all competitions.

With six goals and nine assists, the Premier League was his best competition, though the 25-year-old impressed in Europe, scoring four and assisting five goals in 12 games. Across all competitions, Tielemans averaged a rating of 7.39 per game - the second best in the Arsenal squad.

With Gabriel Martinelli, Emile Smith-Row and Bukayo Saka all capable of playing on the wings, the competition was strong for Neto, and he started 36 games and made a further 16 appearances from the bench. In those games, the Portuguese winger scored 16 goals and grabbed four assists - ending the campaign as Arsenal's second top scorer.


Neto scored 13 of his goals in the league, helping the Gunners become one of the most prolific attacking sides in England. Neto averaged a rating of 7.22 per game, higher than Martinelli (7.11) and Smith-Rowe (7.04), but lower than Saka (7.34
