Ruben Neves responds to Arsenal and Liverpool transfer speculation

Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves has refused to rule out a departure from the club before the transfer window closes, amid interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.

The Portuguese star told the club at the end of last season that he wanted to quit the club but Wolves’ asking price – believed to be around £70m – has put off suitors.

The 25-year-old has been disappointed by the lack of interest in his services and that’s forced him to consider spending another season in the west Midlands.Neves’ contract expires in 2024, meaning he would be available for a more affordable price next summer.

Neves is valued at around £70m

‘Well, let’s see what happens,’ said Neves.

‘I try to focus 100 per cent on my football and I had a good start to the season but we need results now. If you ask me at the end of last season I would have said to you, ‘I will leave’ but I’m still here, so we never know what’s going to happen.”

‘One of the things I miss most is the Champions League, it’s the best competition in the world to play in. So let’s try to achieve that.’

Youri Tielemans is expected to leave Leicester City and the Belgian had been a target for Arsenal earlier in the window.

However, the Foxes are seeking around £40m for the Belgian, despite the fact that he has just one year left on his deal.

That’s seen Arsenal widen their scope for potential targets, with Neves now on their list.
