Liverpool team vs Crystal Palace predicted as Harvey Elliott and Naby Keïta in but Fabinho out Liverpool take on Crystal Palace in the Premier League later today.

Here, three of our writers select the starting XIs we would like Jürgen Klopp to choose.

Liverpool take on Crystal Palace this evening, looking to banish any discontent from an underwhelming season opener against Fulham. Anfield's first Premier League game of the season offers plenty of intriguing selection dilemmas.

For one thing, Jürgen Klopp remains in the throes of the not-quite-crisis in midfield. He has the numbers to deal with medium-term absences for Curtis Jones, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Thiago, but is left with a headache about how best to utilise the remaining options.

Defenders are also now dropping like flies, with Joël Matip a serious doubt for the game, joining Ibrahima Konaté on the list of likely absentees. It's worryingly close to 2020/21 déjà vu for Klopp — although he would certainly take a repeat of the 7-0 triumph over Crystal Palace.

These are the teams that some of our Liverpool.com writers would select.

Matt Addison - Harvey Elliott MUST start

Alisson Becker will be in goal, but I wanted to make a change in the back four even before Matip got injured in training. Joe Gomez deserves to play here, for me, with Matip having started the season poorly. Now, with the Cameroonian a doubt, there might not be any choice. Virgil van Dijk was just as bad at Craven Cottage, but he can't really drop out.

In midfield, I want to see changes as well. Harvey Elliott is an absolute must to come in (made easier by Thiago being injured) but I'd also go for Naby Keïta as well. Jordan Henderson can play as the number six. Fabinho was very bad last weekend.

My starting XI: Alisson: Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Elliott, Keïta, Salah, Núñez, Díaz.
