Liverpool send message to Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham as they equal Premier League record

Liverpool bounced back from their slow start to the season in serious fashion on Saturday afternoon as they thrashed hapless Bournemouth 9-0 at Anfield

Liverpool defeated Bournemouth 9-0 on Saturday to send out a warning to Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs

After their worst start to a Premier League season in 10 years, Liverpool have now sent a message to Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham with a dominant win - beating Bournemouth 9-0 and equalling a Premier League record in the process.

Goals from Roberto Firmino (two), Luis Diaz (two), Harvey Elliott, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Fabio Carvalho and an own goal saw the Reds embarrass Scott Parker's side.

The Reds would comfortably defeat Bournemouth all whilst having a number of key players sidelined, including Thiago, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Joel Matip, Ibrahim Konate, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones all ruled out.

It comes after Liverpool drew their first two games of the season against Fulham and Crystal Palace, before losing to Manchester United on Monday, with many questioning whether they would be able to perform at the same level we've seen them at the past four seasons - potentially leaving a Champions League spot open for the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs to compete for.

However, today's emphatic victory will pour cold water on the downfall of Jurgen Klopp's Reds, who will hope to sign a midfielder before the window closes on Wednesday.

Arsenal can remain atop of the Premier League table with a win over Fulham, meanwhile Chelsea will be happy to come away with three points after playing most of the game against Leicester with 10 men.

Tottenham travel to free-spending Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
