Liverpool ‘do not rule out’ midfield transfer as Matheus Nunes rejects £25m West Ham interest

Nunes bid rejected

Reported Liverpool target Matheus Nunes has turned down a move to West Ham United, according to the Mail.

David Moyes’ side went in with a low bid of £25m. Sporting are said to be holding out for at least £42m, but the bid was rejected out of hand primarily because Nunes made it clear that he has no interest in playing for West Ham.

Liverpool have made something of a habit of sweeping up failed West Ham targets in recent months, with Díaz and Núñez both reportedly on the radar at the London Stadium in the recent past. But the Mail suggests that FSG have ‘pulled out’ of the race, with Wolves currently leading the chase.

Rejecting West Ham suggests that Nunes has his sights set on bigger things. But unless something else changes, Liverpool seem unlikely to give him what he

wants.
