Liverpool are reportedly set to make a move for Brazil forward Leonardo, while Jürgen Klopp is said to want to sign a Real Madrid man 'at any cost'

Welcome to the Liverpool news . From transfers to tweets, it can be hard to keep up with everything going on in the Anfield sphere. Credible, incredible and anything in between: we round it all up in one place here, taking a sideways look at the day’s media goings-on from around the world.

Moving forward, Liverpool need squad depth and he offers an option in all three attacking positions, plus is now a proven goalscorer at this level having netted 21 times last season.

£50m bid 'prepared'

Liverpool are preparing a bid for Santos forward Marcos Leonardo, according to Brazilian outlet Bolavip. The 19-year-old is one of the most exciting talents coming out of Brazilian football at the moment.

It is said that Santos would be willing to listen to offers for Leonardo, but the player also has a £50m release clause written into his contract and while Liverpool do not often spend those sums, they do when they feel it represents good value.

Leonardo, a Brazil U20 international, made 20 goal contributions in just 35 appearances for Santos last season (15 goals and five assists) and along with Liverpool-linked Endrick is a big hope for Brazil's senior national team in future.

Jürgen Klopp keen on Real Madrid man

Liverpool are interested in signing Real Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde, according to El Nacional, with Reds boss Jürgen Klopp said to be prepared to pay 'whatever it takes' to make the deal happen.

Valverde has been linked with a move to Anfield before and is a big talent. Only just 24, the Uruguayan has a big future ahead of him and he made himself a key man for Carlo Ancelotti last season.

While those factors make it obvious why Liverpool might like the player, they are also reasons why Real Madrid would want to keep him.

With a release clause of €1bn (£856m), the Spanish side are in a strong position to demand whatever sum they want for him. Paying 'whatever it takes' is easy to say and less easy to actually implement.
