Arsenal wait on transfer decision amid Elneny, Partey and Zinchenko injury updates

The Gunners are dealing with several fitness concerns going into their Premier League clash with Aston Villa on Wednesday

Mohamed Elneny will miss Arsenal's Premier League match with Aston Villa due to a hamstring injury, football.london understands. The injury was sustained during Saturday's clash with Fulham, but the Egyptian carried on to play the full 90 minutes of the game.

The exact extent of the injury is not currently known with Elneny set be scanned over the next 24 hours to determine the length of time he will miss. It is thought that the Gunners will wait to confirm the severity of the Egyptian's absence before rushing to make any decisions in the final few days of the transfer window.

In the short term Arsenal could be bolstered by the return of Oleksandr Zinchenko, who may be in contention to play against Villa. The Ukrainian was subject to a fitness test after Saturday's win over Fulham and only missed the game as a "precautionary measure" after spraining his left knee.

Meanwhile, there is slightly more positive news on Thomas Partey, whose thigh injury is thought to be relatively minor despite fears over it being a repeat of the same one he suffered at the back end of last season. Arsenal are hopeful that the Ghanaian could be available for selection again in a couple of weeks.

Albert Sambi Lokonga is another option to play in the deeper midfield role. Ben White is also a player who Mikel Arteta has highlighted as an option to play in the position in the past
